A weekend of relaxing and cutting up vintage fabrics.

Have had a lovely weekend relaxing at home with the family. We spend hours sitting around our kitchen table being creative - it's a lovely light and sunny space which seems to somehow help me become inspired. My daughter did lots of drawing whilst I cut up lots of patchwork squares from several piles of vintage fabrics whilst chatting at the same time. I think I'm going to have to invest in some cutting shears!

Sounds wonderful :)
I love it when I can sit with my children and we can draw together and it makes me so happy when I see they enjoy it as much as I do :)

I love crafting with the littles too ... they call it make and do time and they so enjoy it - oh and your room is lovely - so bright and cheery, Bee x

It's great to spend time making things with your children, my eldest is just starting to be 'to grown up' but I'm hoping that I can teach her how to use the sewing machine then she can advance on to bigger and better things! Ada :(

My four year old daughter Polly said that she's going to have a study like mine when she's older to make cats and cushions in!

Hi Jane!
I have been a fan of yours since your brighton days...I lived there too! Re cutting patchwork squares, the best birthday present I ever had was a cutting wheel and mat, the wheel slices through several layers at a time.... and the squares are accurate because of the mat....

Hi! My name is erica. Would you be my friend? said...

It's a lovely room! We spend a lot of time making messes at our table as well... :) I was surprised you use scissors and not a rotary cutter. I don't think I'd be able to cut very good squares to have them match up and all. :) Do you use a template?

Hi Jane, I know what you mean about the light, it does really help dose n't it. Also, I think we have the same table as you, great for all those sticky-kiddy-finger-marks!! Take care xx
